Project Senior Materials Expert – Subsea and Pipelines

Location: Asian Star Building, Alabang
Contract Duration:  2 years

The Role:

• • • Material Selection and Specification: Lead the comprehensive evaluation, selection, and specification of materials for subsea related equipment including pipelines. 
    • Review assessments of internal corrosion rates, performed by Mechanical/Materials. 
    • Select Carbon Steel Material Grade, also recognizing requirements such as stability, impact resistance and weldability, as well as optimizing life cycle cost. 
    • Evaluate use of flow coatings, reducing pressure losses (e.g. dry gas transmission lines) and facilitating an easier commissioning and start-up process (limiting amount of corrosion products). 
    • Evaluate External Pipeline Coatings (FBE, 3LPE, 3LPP, others), in combination with Cathodic Protection requirements optimizing life cycle costs. 
    • Evaluate use of insulation materials (PUR/PE, use of Pipe-in-Pipe or wet insulation materials), meeting heat retention requirements (U-value) as defined by Flow Assurance. 
    • Ensure materials selected are suitable for their intended use, compatible with the selected construction method(s), resulting in the required reliability/integrity and optimized life cycle costs. 
    • Define the internal corrosion management philosophy (in collaboration with the corrosion specialist and in line with the Corrosion Management Framework). 
    • Prepare Line Pipe specifications. 
    • Prepare External Coating and Insulation Specifications. 
    • Define CP requirements (sacrificial anodes and/or impressed current systems). 
    • Prepare specifications for CP Design and Installation. 
    • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and best practices in material selection, fabrication, and quality control processes. 
    • Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams in matters related to materials engineering, emphasizing the mechanical properties of line pipe products. 
    • Project Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to optimize material performance and durability throughout the project lifecycle. 
    • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and advancements in materials science, recommending innovative solutions to enhance pipeline integrity and efficiency.  
    • Report on a regular basis all key information to the SURF & TS Delivery Manager. 
    • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies throughout the project lifecycle. 
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and innovation within the project team.
